Therapeutic Nutrition Counseling according to § 43 SGB V

This specific form of nutrition counseling is intended for individuals with a medically diagnosed condition. It is part of medical treatment and is financially supported by statutory health insurance providers (§ 43 SGB V).

Many illnesses arise from or are aggravated by an unhealthy diet—often in addition to genetic factors. A targeted change in diet can alleviate symptoms and promote health. Conditions for which nutrition therapy is beneficial include, among others:

  • Overweight (obesity), especially with fat accumulation in the abdominal area
  • Metabolic syndrome (a combination of high blood pressure, overweight, and metabolic disorders, elevated blood lipid levels, increased abdominal circumference)
  • Cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure or coronary heart disease
  • Lipid metabolism disorders, e.g. excessively high cholesterol or triglyceride levels
  • Gout and elevated uric acid levels (hyperuricemia)
  • Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
  • Food intolerances and sensitivities
  • Irritable bowel syndrome and chronic inflammatory bowel diseases
  • Diseases of the kidneys or pancreas
  • Eating disorders, e.g. bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, and binge eating disorder
  • Preparation for and follow-up care after bariatric surgery (e.g. gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy)

A medical diagnosis and a recent blood test (not older than 3 months) are necessary for nutrition therapy.

In a detailed consultation, I carefully assess your dietary situation and analyze your eating behavior—for example, using food diaries or symptom logs. From this, your individual „nutrition diagnosis“ is created.

Together, we set realistic goals and develop appropriate measures for your diet that fit into your daily life.

Depending on the illness and situation, I usually accompany you for at least 6 months to ensure sustainable success.
